The Output Stream's Content Scope
And no, this isn't a Java IO API that defines classes in I/O operations.
The Output Stream is part Newsletter, and part system. If you want to know more about the output stream system flow, check out the About Page. There, you’ll also be able to find more info about me, and why I started this Newsletter.
My title is “digital marketing strategist.” By the way I don’t like titles. I also hate college degrees. Oh that’s good - you have one? Well don’t mention it to me. I could care less.
Things I write about
The last 10 years of my life have been spent growing (unsuccessful most of the time) a digital marketing agency. During that time I went to college, got married, and had kids. I also did a lot of other cool shit like figure out who I am. (At least to the best of my ability.)
This digital communication channel (thanks Substack), or whatever you want to call it, is the outpouring (i.e. Output Stream) of my past and future experiences in the marketing, strategy, and digital media world. I hope I can help some along the way.
Some topics I like…
Words. Over the last few years, writing, and the act of it, saved my life - literally.
Flow. My entrepreneurial brain hurts often and workflows made it hurt less.
Strategy. I have a love affair with strategy because it extracts words. (I ♥️ words.)
Systems. I thought I was just “organized,” then I realized it was actually systems.
I also love to write about a ton of other things like
Why digital agencies suck
The great addiction to SaaS products that no one talks about
The benefits of working from home
The benefits of NOT working from home
Language and how all of it’s little parts come together
Data, specifically about web analytics and how it’s used to refine design/ideas
Beautiful product design and the systems used to make them
Financials and how they are understood by different subsets of society
Habits (personal and professional) and ways to refine them
The rise of “gurus” and why we should revolt against them at all costs
SEO and why it’s dominated by former restaurant workers
Why celebrity entrepreneurs (SaaS CEOs, etc.) make political tweets
The misunderstanding about what you read, and reality actually is
Why starting a company is impossible without a partner in 2020 and beyond
And some fun stuff like Whisky (mainly Scotch) and cigars
